House System

SCHOOL HOUSE SYSTEM

The House System provides opportunities for students to develop all aspects of their growth and learning: personality, morality, creativity, knowledge and skills.

The system promotes values of fair play, teamwork, mutual responsibility, self-discipline, initiative, perseverance and resilience.

We place a high value on learning about working as a team and the benefits of good behavior, so the School House System is an important part of student life.

It also facilitates discussions between the most junior and the most senior of school and fostering friendly competitive spirit along the way.

Your child will join one of the four school houses. The houses are named after famous Indian Rivers.

Each student is placed in a house. Older students are given the responsibility to serve as House Captains, House Vice Captains and House Prefects. A teacher is also appointed as the House Master / Mistress of a house to coordinate all activities pertaining to the house he / she  is responsible.

Once allocated, students may not – under any circumstances – move to a different House.

The House System comprises of the following activity:

  • Inter-House competitions such as Oratory skills, writing skills, performing art, quiz time, debating and visual art competitions
  • Inter-House Athletic & Sports meet

Students receive points which contribute to the house competitions.

At the end of the year, all points are counted and the winning house for the year is announced and awards are distributed. There is a wonderful sense of camaraderie generated throughout the school with the house system.
